Barrier Laminate Tubes

A laminate tube is a sandwich: layers of plastic with a barrier of EVOH or thin aluminium foil in the middle. That barrier is what stops oxygen getting in and fragrance getting out, and for a lot of formulas it is the difference between a twenty-four-month shelf life and a six-month one.

Foil gives the highest barrier and a slightly stiffer tube; EVOH gives a very good barrier with a softer squeeze and no metallic look at the crimp. We will recommend one based on the formula rather than on what is in stock.

The cost is recyclability. A multi-layer laminate is difficult to separate and most kerbside streams will not take it. We put that in writing rather than letting a brand discover it during a sustainability audit.
